In days of old when Lee Wulff was just a minnow, when we kept everything we caught - when we thought of little but out fishing our buddies and bringing home the proof of it – catch and release was not in our vocabulary. Times have changed.
Working from the information you provide…photos, measurements, location, etc., and my own extensive reference library, I will create in either sculpted or drawn form, a realistic and artful version of your catch.
Ideally I need an 8x10 color photograph of your catch, measurement to the nearest 100th of an inch, the length, girth and weight of the fish, a DNA sample of the monster and a note from your mom testifying to your honesty.
Really though, all I need is the length of the fish and a decent photo, and I will create an original, realistic and artful version of your catch in the medium of colored pencil.

Jesse's Rainbow
For anyone that dabbles in art, there is nothing as challenging as a commission. And if that commission involves recreating an anglers’ special catch it is REALLY challenging.
Most artists will spend the majority of their time creating whatever happens to strike their fancy...and if someone likes the result and wants to hang it on their wall...so much the better. Commissions are different. The pressure is on to create a personalized masterpiece and it had better be good. But if you succeed the rewards are fantastic!
To see the look in the eye of the buyer when they like the results is the best reward imaginable. To be a part of preserving a memory that will last a lifetime is kinda hard to explain...it’s the next best thing to actually catching that trophy yourself. I know for a fact that young Jesse had the time of his life catching this beautiful Rainbow...but I had a pretty good time too. |

Bob Clouser used his Kinky Clouser, along with the prototype bass rod he has developed for Temple Fork Outfitters to catch this beauty. It was my honor to try to do it justice. |

There is a $350 dollar minimum charge for a fish only on 14 X 11 archival, acid free, 100# paper. This minimum charge includes appropriate wording if desired...such as name, location, date, etc.
For replicas done to actual size (larger than will fit on the 14 x 11 paper) the charge is $18 dollars per inch of fish length.
There would be additional charges for the depiction of hands, flies, rods or other details. If you want the image matted and framed there would be additional charges for that as well. Otherwise, the art is shipped with a backing board and is enclosed in a plastic sleeve. Shipping charges are also additional.
For pricing of three dimensional sculptings as shown below, please call for an estimate. |

SCULPTINGS |

I begin each sculpting – whether it is to be done in “earth” or polymer clay – by gathering my reference material and creating a detailed sketch of the subject matter. I then begin forming the clay to the correct dimensions and adding detail as I go. Depending upon size, I may elect to reinforce the item with fiberglass or wood.
The finished piece is then fired and the painting process begins.
I use acrylic paints to add all of the vibrant colors and I then secure the finish with multiple coats of lacquer.
Created in the classic ½ body style, each of these one-of-a-kind fish sculptings are meticulously hand painted and signed. Any of these original works of art will enhance any cabin, study, game room or den with classic sporting décor.
These are not mass produced, cookie-cutter taxidermy fish. Each began as a lump of clay, a memory and the desire to share it. Capturing the essence of his subject while holding true to the traditions of the artform is my ongoing goal.

Please note that in addition to the 3D examples that are shown here, I can also create a beautiful colored pencil rendition of your catch.
